Frishta, 35, is originally from the village of Kamari, but now lives with her husband and their daughter in a rented house in the village of Qala-e-Ahmadkhan near the Hazrat Bilal mosque. Their daughter is about five years old and attends kindergarten. Her father is illiterate and earns a poor wage from occasional jobs, transporting goods from the bazaar on his bicycle.
As Frishta is also illiterate, takes care of the household and child and, as a woman in today’s Afghanistan, would struggle to find a job anyway, she is unfortunately unable to contribute anything to the family income. Before the regime change, she was still able to earn some extra money in the neighborhood by helping out around the house, but without this extra income, the small family barely has enough to survive. We are therefore looking for sponsors who are willing to support the family with a small monthly contribution.
