Gol Azro comes from the village of Mazar Dara in Kunar province. She lost her husband on the night of the earthquake. The only support in her life died under the rubble of the house they had built with their own hands. Although she herself was injured in the earthquake, it was the sight of her seriously injured children that burned itself into her heart, so that the emotional pain far outweighed the physical pain.
Gol Azro and her children live injured and unprotected on their destroyed property, under a thin tent. They no longer have a home, and the livestock, which was the family’s only source of income, also perished under the rubble.
