Robaanas husband and three of her children lost their lives on the tragic night of the earthquake. Miraculously, her youngest children, a baby and his 2-year-old sister, survived. Too young to understand the tragedy of that night, to understand what had been lost.
Their home was completely destroyed, and their animals, their only source of income, were also killed. Robaana tries to be there for her young children and not give in to the despair that haunts her at every turn in the emptiness and silence of the drafty tent. She has to be strong for her young children, for herself, hoping that things will only get better and that her life can turn around for the better.
