Zahidullah is an 11-year-old boy from Kunar Province, which was struck by a devastating earthquake in 2025. Members of Zahidullah’s family were also affected; his father lost his life.

The small village of Kashni is Zahidullah’s home, an area marked by limited opportunities and hardship. Compounding the loss of his father is his mother Afghana’s severe neurological illness. As a result, Zahidullah, his brother Rahmatullah, and his older sisters Hanifa (14) and Hakima (15) must bear a heavier burden than should be expected of them.

Instead of enjoying a carefree childhood, Zahidullah faces daily worries, hardships, and responsibilities far beyond his years. The young boy accepts them without complaint and hopes for a better future. Day after day, he sets out on the long and dangerous journey to the nearest school. With an education, he hopes, he can find work and provide for his family.

Every day, he travels a long and arduous journey to get to school—a journey often marked by exhaustion and challenges. However, his belief in a better future gives him strength. Zahedullah is firmly convinced that education is the only way to protect himself and his family from poverty and suffering.

Zahedullah’s story is that of a child who, despite pain and hardship, continues to believe in the future—a belief that deserves attention, care, and support. That is why we are urgently seeking sponsors for the family.
