Shila is around 37 years old, illiterate, and lives with her five children in very modest circumstances. She married in her early 20s, but her husband has since passed away. Since then, she has been solely responsible for her family.
Despite her own lack of education, Shila is doing everything she can to give her children a better future. All five attend school and, as far as possible, take part in additional courses:
- Khurshid (15): has completed 6th grade, attends English and computer courses
- Shogufa (13): also attends English and computer courses
- Suman (10): attends 4th grade
- Omar (8 years old) and Susan (6 years old): both in 1st grade
To provide for her family, Shila works as a domestic helper in private households. However, her income is only enough to cover the bare necessities. The costs of school supplies, courses, and transportation put a heavy strain on the family’s budget – and jeopardize the children’s educational opportunities in the long term.
That is why we are urgently looking for sponsors who can support the family.
Just 50 € a month helps to secure the children’s education and improve their basic living conditions.
With your sponsorship, you can give Shila’s children the chance to build a self-determined future.
